Top Summer Vacation Tips

Whether you are traveling by plane, train or automobile, summer vacations are the perfect opportunity to get away to a favourite spot or experience new sights and adventures. Most important, it is a time to be together and enjoy each other’s company. If however, your trip is not planned correctly, you will spend your vacation stressed out! So regardless if you are packing up the kids in the back of the van or traveling solo to exotic destinations, here are some travel tips to make this summer vacation your best one yet:

Pack Right

Easier said than done right? Packing is a fine balance of bringing what you really need without taking too much. How do you do it? Planning ahead and having a really good list. Bring anything you absolutely must have, bring co-ordinated clothing you can mix and match and make sure to have a list prepared well in advance so you don’t forget anything. Don’t bring too much of anything, you will not wear six pairs of shoes I promise you, and don’t bring anything that can be bought along the way if you really need it.

Have Plenty of Sun Screen, Hats and Sunglasses

The sun is stronger in the summer time and UV rays keep increasing. There is nothing worse then getting sunburned on the first few days of your summer vacation and spending the rest of it uncomfortable. Sun protection is more important now then ever before.

Be Flexible

Leave a little wiggle room in your plans. Give yourself plenty of time for delayed flights and traffic jams. Even if you do not get an opportunity to do something as planned, enjoyable rest stops or detours can be used to explore and can end up being even more memorable than the planned stops.

Bring A Camera

This one sounds obvious I know, but you would be surprised how many people either forget to bring the camera or the extra batteries or the memory card (in the old days it used to be the film) etc. Prepare your camera gear in advance so you have it ready to go, you do not want to miss that great sunset or your child’s first encounter with the dolphin.

Keep The Kids Amused

If you are traveling with kids, unless you love to hear “Are we there yet?” over and over, make sure they have enough to stay amused. Have them pack their own travel bags with things they love in order to keep themselves occupied during the trip on the plane or in the car. You can also find inexpensive travel games in stores, or you can play your own such as "I Spy" or the license plate game.

Be Prepared For Rain or Cooler Weather

There is nothing worse then packing t-shirts and shorts only to be hit with a cool spell and spending your summer vacation trying to stay dry and warm. Even if you are traveling to a hot desert, be prepared with basic rain gear and a warm jacket and vice versa.

Be Ready For An Emergency

If traveling by car keep an emergency kit handy that includes jumper cables, basic hand tools, flares or reflective warning triangles, a first aid kit, a flashlight with fresh batteries, and a cell phone if possible.

What Not To Do On Your Summer Vacation

There are a few things you should also not do in order to have a great summer vacation. First, try to avoid traveling during peak times, this means long weekends in the summer, unless you are a sucker for punishment. It also means rush hours in the city if you are driving, try to plan your time around these hours.

Don’t break the bank. A recent Expedia survey found that 57 percent of travelers blow their vacation budgets on food and drinks. Ways to get around this include staying at all inclusive resorts and booking rooms with a kitchenette. Before you visit a particular city, check out what activities are free to do there. Especially for kids, there may be lots of parks, museums or just interesting things to look at that will not cost anything.

And the most important tip for having a great summer vacation? Don’t overdue it. You are on vacation, don’t plan too much into a short amount of time, and leave room to just r-e-l-a-x. Enjoy the glorious summer days and nights, as we all know, they go by way to fast.

Baishakhi

What a great Mela, the atmosphere was excellent, I love Bangla New Year now , for sure and what a perfect time to party.

The music was jumping, punctuated by low flying MTV style cameras, the coverage was a success, the audience Baishakhi Mela
going mental, the musicians gave it back with excellent performances.

If a Mela is gauged by how well people enjoy themselves then Baishakhi Mela is really not to be missed, there is a real feeling of community and independence, which is fair enough, although, there is also a feeling of being in someone else's house, more so than other Melas.

There is no true cross-over, no sense of inclusion with rest of the whole community of East London, no multi-cultural element that makes a good Mela a great one.

Channel S put up a good show, the TV coverage was decent with a large viewing screen so no one missed any of the action on stage.

The presenter was constantly swamped with people trying to get their faces on the screen, but he seemed to handle the crush with some humour (at least when the cameras were on ) some of the crowd were generous enough to form a circle around him and the show went on.

A few other TV companies also showed up, but it was a token
representation and they didn't have the same enthusiasm as Channel S..

Hollywood Celebrity Hotel

Four girls on a perfect California 2 wk. vacation and just lucky enough to have found this little gem of a hotel for a 3 night stay while in Hollywood. The pic's on the internet do not do this place justice and it sure deserves at least a 4 star rating. We were pleasantly surprised with our room which had 2 king beds in 2 rooms and a full kitchenette and dining area. Very clean and comfortable. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Continental brkfst. was the best I have ever had with lots of variety. Situated right behind the Kodak theatre and within 3 hrs. of our arrival we saw several big stars as there was a Sean Connery lifetime achievement celebration at the theatre and were able to get very close for a lot of fun photos. While strolling along the Hollywood walk of fame we found an amazing little place called Venice Pizza + Deli @ 6603 Hollywood Blvd. where we believe the best pasta and pizza we have ever eaten and also the best waitress named Rachel who we just adored and was only to happy to take care of our every request. This is the perfect hotel for those who want to be in the thick of the action only having to walk or take a short cab ride to everything you could possibly want to see or do. I will definately be back in the future and will not need to look any further that this hotel and the prices were very reasonably. One more thing, if you go on a tour you should definately try the Starline Tour and get Brian Donnelly for your guide, I promise you won't be disappointed he is the best!

This hotel is a charming throwback to another time which immediately causes one to take a deep breath and become quite calm and relaxed. Quaint little street within arm's length on the Kodak theatre and the Hollywood walk of fame. Nice little gym with with steam room. Wonderful continental brkfst. Clean, comfortable and lg. room with kitchenette. Lovely front desk staff who immediately took care of all of our arrangements for sightseeing, cabs etc. Comfortable small p

Holidays Time

Sand and crystal clear water whether our holiday is on our coasts in Italy or we are among the lucky few who reach beautiful island for a fabulous stay, certainly not want disfigure in terms of clothing.

So to spend hours lying to sunbathe between a dip and another, the choice of new costume must follow the new fashion trends beach becomes obliged. For a woman we find new bikini lines by strong colours, to create a "rainbow" on the beach, flanked by modern semi-one-pice costumes that play to see and not to see until to come to the simple clothes with tight strep, with necklines on the back to wear even for walks or evening to fully enjoy the sea breeze.

Even for a man strong colours for the costumes tand shorts by sea for all tastes, Hawaiian patterns beaches that attract foreign but also more sober colors for lovers of classical style.
There is the known pareo, convenient for her but also used by him, perhaps in dyed with the costume, the garment is becoming faster and convenient for the beach and other.

The desire for sea and want to stay comfortable, even when walking and then how not to use simple flip-flop, comfortable even on the shore of the beach but very appreciated also to walk in the streets of the city, from the most Spartan, rubber and plastic until most elegant, perfect for the evening, with rhinestones, finishing in silver and gold, together with light summer dress, complete the dress perfectly.
Convenient since the departure until the arrival on the beach and practice even during our shopping in the city centre, can not miss the bag, our hand luggage that gives us the air a little 'nomadic and chic that contains everything that we need in an entire day, from morning to evening;
When we are lying on the beach and want a nice cushion enough to fill a little 'and the canvas bag will also practice in this!

The fashion this year really satisfied anyone and who don't love the flip-flop also in the evening, but doesn't want hight-helled sandals and doesn't love the wedge-helled shose, these are the sandals by metallic style the flt sandals are the accessory most used in this summer. Many models for the convenience of all, the important thing is these are sparkling like gold and silver.

VIAREGGIO

We never thought it would happen, with the strong influence of La Papa over Italy’s attitude to gayness... but, at last, we have a fully-fledged gay beach summer holiday resort, making VIAREGGIO the first beachside city in Italy to develop a full-on gay holiday place. Gay VIAREGGIO - or, more specifically, its beach neighbourhood of gay Torre del Lago has a nicely developing gay scene, thank you! That it has a gay beach, was kept a pretty closely-guarded secret by the locals for the past twenty years or so,. Until now, that is... because over the past five years, there has been a slowly-but-surely build-up of that gay tolerance and amenities that has evolved into the gay holiday place in Italy. The process has been helped along by the fact that Tuscany is a much more open, tolerant and switched-on region of Italy than anywhere else in the country... especially compared with down in the ‘deep south.’ And, it has, traditionally, had a gay beach... which helps a lot! Of course, the major Italian cities have been quite a pull for us for ages through their crowd-pulling art and architecture as well as the gastronomy and beautiful people. But compared with Spain, and even Greece, Italy has been a real latecomer as a ‘hot’ summer gay holiday place, until now....so for a new experience, why not now explore gay Italy by choosing gay VIAREGGIO - gay Torre del Lago - our new gay holiday place?

Colours of India "Holi"

Colors of India (Virtual Holi) is theme number two of the events lined up on the sun calendar of the internationally collaborative Solar Eclipse'99 project. This is a project about using computing technology to connect up communities located in different parts of the world. The aim will be to interact, exchange, share ideas and work together through synchronous networking, in spite of the participating members being separated by huge physical distances.

This event that was scheduled for the evening of the13th(Friday) March was designed around playing virtual holi through the information technologies with other countries from around the world. As part of our "new audiences"( which for us would imply those not involved yet or likely to be involved in the conceivable future, in any way whatsoever, to these technologies.), we had with us a painter Jitish Kallat and six street children from YUVA(Youth Unity for Voluntary Action) who painted on the theme of the festival. The interesting outcome of this being that Kallat created a digital canvas by interpreting the paintings done on paper by the street children. This went online on web. Since M F Hussain had agreed to come and could not at the last minute, the response to his last-minute cancellation has been interpreted in a 'Hussain feature' and is being put up on the web.as well, along with a critical elaboration of Hussain's work by art writer Meher Pestonjee.

Though the site was launched with the above event, we expect the site to be an interesting place to discover and exchange notes on colors. We have also created this site with the view that it will extend and grow with suggestions from people who are accessing it. 'Colors of India' being the overall theme, anything that would contribute to this is expected to be either included or linked to this site. The aim is also to make the site interactive, playful and useful. We solicit suggestions, feedback as well as additions to the theme of 'Colors of India'.

What is Tour

Mojacar on the Costa de Almeria is made up of two very different parts; the traditional hilltop village of Mojacar Pueblo and, in complete contrast, the modern coastal strip of Mojacar Playa. The former is a very attractive village, with its steep, narrow streets of cube-shaped, whitewashed houses. A profusion of flowers completes this picture postcard scene. Mojacar Pueblo is best enjoyed in the evening once the many day trippers have departed.

The town has had a long and varied history. There are remnants of Phoenician, Carthaginian and Roman occupations, but it wasn't until the Moors arrived that the town began to flourish. After the Christian re-conquest of 1488 Mojacar continued to thrive, although the situation was reversed in the mid-nineteenth century when the area was racked by droughts and the population declined. It wasn't until the 1960's that Mojacar began to recover after it became home to a colony of artists and writers. Tourists soon followed and the resort of Mojacar Playa was developed into the resort that we see today.

Mojacar's busiest beaches are Playa del Cantel and Playa de la Cueva del Lobo. There are plenty of activities available here including scuba diving, windsurfing, fishing and sailing. Only part of Mojacar's coastline is developed, so it's not difficult to find quieter beaches just outside the resort, especially in the direction of the Cabo de Gata national park to the south.

The fall of Moorish Mojacar to the Christians is celebrated every June with the 3-day 'Moors and Christians' festival. This colourful spectacle has fireworks, music, and re-enactments of the battles with the participants dressed in historical costumes.

RAM NAVAMI

Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama is a major Hindu festival celebrated all over the country by all sects of the Hindu fold. Ram, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu was born on the ninth day of the bright half of the lunar month chaitra.

The festival preparations start early in the morning with people taking bath in the holy waters and coming to the temple of Lord Ram. They keep fast till 12, noon, when the avatar is supposed to have taken place. People take "Phalagar" only in the afternoon. It consists of a sweet made of khoya, potatoes or calacosia made in any form without the use of Haldi, garlic and onion. All kinds of root vegetables are consumed and no green vegetables. Fruits are allowed. The puja is done in the noon by singing various slokas, hymns and ending with the distribution of Panjeeree, chranamrita, fruits and sweets.

In Ayodhya, the birthplace of Sri Ram, the temples are heavily decorated and great festivities take place. Ramayana is read and recited and great fairs are held here on that day. Ran Navami is also celebrated as the Vasanta Navarathri festival with the celebrations starting from the first lunar day of the bright half of the chithrai month.
